Laura Walton
Mental health specialist midwife
King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
I have been a midwife since 2012 and am currently working as a mental health specialist midwife at Kings College NHS Trust. I feel passionate about caring for women who are experiencing disadvantage and walking through the maternity journey with them. My current projects include improving maternity care for women who have experienced sexual trauma as well as exploring ways to reduce the increasing amount of women who are experiencing traumatic birth. I was honoured to receive the Nursing Times Midwife of the Year award in 2023 for my work primarily in reducing anxiety around childbirth and feel excited to see the 2024 nominees. I live in Kent and when I’m not working, I love to travel and explore new cultures and cuisines.
