David has a background in critical care and emergency nursing from his service as an Army burns nurse leading the military burns and plastic surgery service during the transformational changes experienced by the Defence Medical Services in the late 1990s. David has also had extensive experience on operations providing support to multinational formations as well as British Armed Forces units on operations. In the last 20 years he has been immersed in CBRN medicine across the threat spectrum, he has managed the UK's medical countermeasures applied research program and having transitioned into public health continues to plan, deliver and evaluate emergency care as a volunteer across three continents including remote delivery of education and training to people in non-permissive environments such as those in Burma. David writes and lectures internationally in disaster response, humanitarian action and CBRNe medicine.
