I have nearly 33 years of nursing experience across many fields but predominantly in surgery, education, intensive care, leadership and management. I have always been and remain a passionate, caring, highly motivated nurse with patient care at the heart of all I lead on and deliver. As a senior leader I have undertaken the Matron's role, gaining excellent clinical skills and management, exposure at a high level, overseeing and improving patient care and experience. My role as practice educator on the Liver Transplant Unit gave me opportunities to teach and disseminate expert and advanced nursing practice in liver disease locally and nationally through conference presentation at both the BACCN and the RCN. In 2018 I undertook the role of Divisional Head of Nursing for surgery which enabled me to provide clinical and managerial leadership to the nursing and multi-disiplinary teams and to uphold and promote activities supporting quality care standards and improvement to the patient experience. I have undertaken the role of Associate Chief Nurse for Adults since 1st April 2023 which is very empowering, offers lots of variance, new opportunities and challenges, all I continue to enjoy at this time.
