Established in 2001 as a Special Health Authority (SpHA) and then as a limited company in 2010, NHS Professionals are experts at putting people in places to care within NHS Trusts and the wider healthcare system in England. We have over 50 client Trusts and 190,000 healthcare professionals registered with us.

Our vision is a well-staffed NHS, where healthcare professionals have the opportunity to work flexibly, and Trusts are empowered to reduce their reliance on external organisations. Our mission is to become the workforce partner of choice to the NHS, creating opportunities for flexible workers to become valued NHS Professionals Bank Members, working to NHS-assured standards.

To support staffing levels and workforce planning, our teams use specialist healthcare knowledge to deliver fully bespoke recruitment solutions, ranging from local shift cover through to national and international workforce campaigns. Specialisms on offer include: nurses and midwives, doctors, allied health professionals, healthcare scientists, personal social services and non-clinical.

Since we are owned by the Department of Health and Social Care, we enable significant reinvestment into the wider healthcare economy. In 2021-22, this equated to over £18million, in addition to associated workforce efficiencies and savings made by individual NHS Trusts.
