Benash Nazmeen is a midwife, educator, and research-active professional dedicated to addressing health inequalities and improving maternity services. She co-founded the Association of South Asian Midwives (ASAM), supporting marginalized midwives and raising awareness of barriers faced by diverse communities. A Fellow of the Royal College of Midwives, Benash co-leads Cultural Competency and Safety Workshops for maternity healthcare professionals, recognized in the NHS Equity and Equality Guidance (2021). She serves as Co-Chair for the Birth Rights Inquiry into Racial Injustice in UK Maternity Services, is a member of the MBRRACE-UK Perinatal Confidential Enquiry Review Panel, and contributes to the RCN Foundation Stakeholder Forum. An advocate for equity in healthcare, Benash was honoured with the "Ground-breaking Researcher" award at the BAME Health & Care Awards (2022) and was shortlisted for the RCM Race Matters Awards (2021).
