I have worked in the community for 19 years and my career has allowed me to progress from a band 5 community nurse, a district nurse and practice teacher and then for the last 4 years as a professional lead. Since stepping into the community I have been its biggest advocate, it is a privileged place to nurse, allows autonomy, and a place to make and be the difference to individuals. Community has given me so many opportunities to develop as a nurse and a leader I have strived to constantly improve practice for patients and those I lead. 2024 held some of my proudest achievements as a nurse firstly being awarded as a Nursing Times winner and then receiving the honorary title of Queens Nurse both of which I remain in disbelief. Both achievements give me the opportunity to share my passion, drive to raise the profile of community nursing.
