Emergency Department Matron
Darent Valley Hospital

I have worked in the NHS for 27 years in various roles such as a health care assistant for adults with learning disabilities, Phlebotomist in primary care and in 2008 I was lucky enough to be seconded to complete my training. Ever since qualifying, I have worked in ED and moved up the ranks including 2 years as an ED practice development nurse. Emergency Nursing is my passion and I have been an ED Matron 4 ½ years now. Last year with my colleague, Cat Siggery we won the Critical and Emergency Care Nursing category for our Emergency department familiarisation visits for adults with learning disabilities. We are extremely passionate and proud of this initiative and improving health care equality for vulnerable groups. I am excited to be on the judging panel for this category and cannot wait to celebrate all the amazing work happening in critical and Emergency care.
