After qualifying from the University of Surrey in 1984, Liz worked as a staff nurse in London before moving to Australia to work on a cardio-vascular ward. When the sunshine and blue skies got too much, she moved back home to Nottingham and started her eight-year stint as a ward sister of a general and urology surgery ward. Her subsequent career has taken me through practice development, various senior nursing posts, a stint as a general manager and also service improvement. She recently helped to turn around a hospital in special measures, as a senior nurse in surgery. Last year, she returned to Nottingham University Hospitals and is now the divisional nurse for the surgery division.
