Self Management UK
Jane has a nursing background, with extensive senior management experience in quality improvement and governance in the NHS, voluntary and education sectors. Jane currently works for a Mental Health and Community NHS Trust, leading one of the national early implementer Community Mental Health Transformation Projects. Prior to this, she managed a variety of projects for local NHS organisations and one of the national patient-focused charities, with an emphasis on
improving the quality of healthcare services and on patient, carer and public involvement. She also worked as a lecturer at the University of Portsmouth, with a particular interest in research methods.
Jane has an MSc in Strategic Quality Management and is currently completing a PhD, researching patient and carer involvement of those living with long-term in primary care settings.
Until recently, Jane was also carer for her mother who lived with a number of long-term conditions. With this and her professional and academic experience, Jane has a clear understanding of the benefits of supporting people to manage the day-to-day impact of living with a long-term condition and of promoting the involvement of people in decisions that impact their ability to live as healthily and independently as possible.
