Owner / manager,
Landermeads Nursing Home
Ros has been passionate about supporting both older people living with dementia and younger adults with learning disabilities for the past 32 years. She believes true quality support lies in a balance of clinical expertise and the ability to understand that long term care is about emotional connections.
In 1989 Ros and her husband opened Landermeads, a family run nursing home. Since then, Landermeads has grown into a Community of five households – The Meads, Buttermeads, Lander House, Stoppard House and Catherine Tam House. At Landermeads the team embrace career progression supporting staff to move from care work to nursing associates to nurses.
Ros believes caring for older people is at its best when individuals are able to feel safe, valued and part of a community and feels it takes a skilled nursing workforce to recognise true balance.
In 2020, Ros won the Care of Older People category at the Nursing Times Award for the development of the Care Home WhatsApp group which provided staff with peer support, access up to update information, provided a safe place to share concerns and enable 2-way vital communication during the pandemic.
