Steven A. Matarelli, PhD, RN serves as a Sr. Clinical Executive for Vocera Communications - the industry leader in platform-based clinical communications and workflow serving over 1,400 installations globally with effective and robust solutions for healthcare team communication, integrated physiologic monitoring, and event-driven alarm management.
Formerly, Dr. Matarelli worked for Joint Commission Resources in the role of Field Director International Accreditation and Johns Hopkins Medicine International in the role of Chief Operating Officer of Tawam Hospital, United Arab Emirates. Dr. Matarelli is an experienced national and international speaker in the United States, Middle East, and Asia on topics of nursing care, hospital operations, patient safety, research, and “theory-into-practice” for healthcare providers, community organizations, and academic settings.
Dr. Matarelli holds a dual-track Master’s in Nursing Administration and Medical/Surgical Nursing from Texas Woman’s University and a PhD in Public Health from Walden University. He is a graduate of the Johnson & Johnson Wharton School of Business Fellowship Program for Nurse Executives and is the recipient of the Abu Dhabi Health Services “COO of the Year” in 2011; first runner up 2013, and the Bernard L. Turner Award for Faculty Excellence, 2017. Dr. Matarelli has held staff to executive positions in his 33+ year healthcare career, in addition to adjunct and part-time faculty positions.
