Mark qualified as a Registered General Nurse in Shropshire in 1982, before going on to specialise in Orthopaedic Nursing at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Oswestry. He then worked within Orthopaedic and Accident and Emergency settings before moving into teaching as a specialist Orthopaedic Tutor at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore and then Project 2000 Nursing Students at the North London College of Health Studies. In 1992 he was appointed as the first Nurse Consultant – Tissue Viability (TV) in the United Kingdom (UK) [at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge].
