Christine Catley is Senior Renal Research Nurse for the Mid Essex Hospital Services NHS Trust (MEHT) research team, winners of the 2017 Nursing Times Award for ‘Clinical Research Nursing’ and finalists in the 2018 British Journal of Nursing Awards ‘Innovation’ category. Since qualifying with a First Class BSc (Hons) in 2000, Christine has worked in both general and renal medicine. She joined the MEHT research team in 2012, establishing and growing the Trust’s renal research portfolio by supporting national studies, local service evaluations and audits. Christine has published articles regarding peritoneal dialysis, chronic kidney disease and research nursing and also works alongside the MEHT Acute Kidney Injury lead clinician on the national AKI Key Performance Indicators. She recently organised the first regional renal research teaching event for the local NIHR network and collaborates with MEHT’s Sepsis Nurse Specialist to provide AKI & Sepsis awareness events for staff and patients.
