Deborah qualified in 1988 with a dual orthopaedic and nursing qualification from The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital & King’s College London. She went onto become a senior nurse running acute orthopaedic trauma wards at Basingstoke & North Hampshire Hospital. Following this she has set up and run two successful ventures within the Trust – an orthogeriatric service from 2000-2007 and a bone density clinic from 2007-2009. In 2009, she progressed into research where she set up a new trust-wide portfolio of Stroke and Parkinson's Trials. In the last two years, she has worked as a research fellow with Professor Ann Ashburn at The University of Southampton on the chief investigator team on the PD SAFE, a community-based Parkinson’s Trial. Currently she holds a dual role with Wessex CRN facilitating stroke, cardiovascular & neurodegenerative research, and linking with national trial teams. In 2017, she was awarded The NIHR CRN Wessex Outstanding Research Professional Award & completed The National Institute of Health Research Advanced Leadership Programme.
