Liz qualified as an RGN in 1983, gained her Specialist Practitioner Qualification in 1987 and has worked as a District Nurse since then, becoming a Specialist Community Practice Teacher in 2009. She has a first class degree in palliative care.
Liz was awarded the title of Queen’s Nurse in 2010. She is an ambassador for the QNI and has hosted several shadowing visits by high level policy makers. She contributed to the DoH’s paper ‘Care in Local Communities – a new vision and model for district nursing’, 2013 and has twice spoken about community nursing on radio four. She has contributed to working parties on new standards for nurse education and end of life care and worked on government steering groups. She has promoted district nursing in a variety of venues and to diverse audiences.
In 2017 she was presented with the Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother’s award for outstanding service in recognition of her commitment to community nursing.
